for a dual joint limb especially located at the front and back the motors and their drive shafts each embed across a segment pair. the basal one embeds to the body.

if using only one limb type the configuration may support an angle to the side limbs yet still permit pretty efficient motion. the limb segments themselves may need custom size and shape though, different between their position and function

it might be tricky to find boardspace and the circuit board almost certainly overlaps both the base limb motors and of course the batteries will line up in a row layered to that. an alternate design variant includes flex pcb which traverses the limbs, and is perhaps packed with silicone and reinforced with hard elements

if side limbs project to the side from the body a long shaft motor may be used probably N30, a 55mm threaded shaft, preferably M4, and the shaft acting through the length of the limb. an addional motor worm gear T type will still be needed to raise the limb at the base. gemini suggested a C shaped flexible limb to slide and catch

silicone sealant may be used to set tension and confer movement cushioning, even form aspects of the jointing and structure. applied at time of manufacture. consider 3d printing elastic polymers and how these can adhere or connect with harder parts of the structure
